First download a fresh e-PAN PDF from incometax.gov.in — it is a fully valid PAN document. Then, if you also want a physical card, request a reprint on Protean. An FIR is NOT required just for a lost card.
Kya e-PAN aur physical PAN dono same valid hote hain? / Are e-PAN and physical PAN equally valid?
Yes. A digitally-signed e-PAN PDF is fully valid — banks, employers, ITR filing and KYC all accept it. Ordering a physical card is optional.
Can NRIs / people living abroad download or reprint their PAN?
Yes. e-PAN download works from anywhere as long as you have your Aadhaar-linked mobile. For a physical reprint to a foreign address, use Protean's 'Reprint of PAN' service (fee about Rs. 959).
