PM Kisan Status Check & eKYC: Fix Payment Failed (2026)

2026-10-20• 6 min read

Check your PM Kisan beneficiary status, finish eKYC, and fix 'payment failed', 'Aadhaar not seeded' and land-record problems — step by step.

PM Kisan Samman Nidhi pays eligible farmer families ₹6,000 a year in three instalments of ₹2,000, straight into the bank account. But every instalment, lakhs of farmers find their money stuck with messages like "eKYC pending", "Aadhaar not seeded" or "land seeding: No". This guide shows how to check your status in two minutes and fix each problem yourself.

How to check your PM Kisan status

1. Open pmkisan.gov.in (the official site — don't use look-alike sites).

2. In the Farmers Corner, click Know Your Status.

3. Enter your registration number. If you don't know it, click "Know your registration number" and use your registered mobile or Aadhaar number with an OTP.

4. Enter the captcha and the OTP sent to your mobile.

The page shows your details and a list of instalments, with the date, amount and the bank where each was credited. Below that are three checks: eKYC status, Land seeding and Aadhaar bank account seeding. All three must say "Yes" or "Done" for the next instalment.

You can also check on the PM-KISAN mobile app, which supports face-authentication eKYC.

What each problem means and how to fix it

eKYC pending

eKYC confirms that the beneficiary is a real person. You can do it three ways:

  • OTP eKYC on pmkisan.gov.in → Farmers Corner → eKYC, using the mobile linked to your Aadhaar.
  • Face authentication on the PM-KISAN app, if your mobile isn't linked to Aadhaar.
  • Biometric eKYC at a Common Service Centre (CSC) for a small fee.

Your status usually updates within a day or two.

Aadhaar not seeded with bank account

PM Kisan money is sent by DBT to the bank account linked to your Aadhaar in the NPCI mapper. If it says "Aadhaar bank seeding: No":

  • Visit your bank branch and ask for Aadhaar seeding for DBT (also called NPCI mapping). Carry your Aadhaar and passbook.
  • Or open an account at India Post Payments Bank (IPPB). The postman can open it at your door, and Aadhaar seeding happens quickly.

You can check which bank your Aadhaar is mapped to on myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in → Bank seeding status.

Land seeding: No

Land seeding means your land record has been checked and linked by the state. If it shows "No", meet your patwari, lekhpal or village revenue officer with your land documents (khatauni, 7/12, jamabandi, patta), Aadhaar and PM Kisan registration number. The state agriculture department then updates the record. This step is done by the state, not online by you.

Farmer ID (AgriStack)

Many states now need a Farmer ID (from the AgriStack registry) for new PM Kisan registrations and other farm schemes. If your state has started Farmer ID camps, register with your Aadhaar and land records so future instalments aren't held up.

Who is not eligible for PM Kisan

Even if you own farmland, you're excluded if anyone in your family:

  • is a current or former constitutional post holder, MP, MLA, mayor or district panchayat chairperson
  • is a serving or retired government employee (except Group D / multi-tasking staff)
  • receives a monthly pension of ₹10,000 or more (except Group D)
  • paid income tax in the last assessment year
  • is a registered professional (doctor, engineer, lawyer, CA, architect) practising the profession

If you were paid while ineligible, the government can ask you to refund the money. Use the voluntary surrender option on the portal if this applies to you.

How to register for PM Kisan

1. On pmkisan.gov.in, choose New Farmer Registration (rural or urban farmer).

2. Enter your Aadhaar and mobile number, then your state.

3. Fill in your personal and bank details and the land details exactly as in the land record.

4. Submit. The state verifies your land and eligibility, which can take a few weeks.

You can also register at a CSC or through the agriculture department's village-level worker.

When does each instalment come?

PM Kisan has three instalment periods each year:

  • April–July
  • August–November
  • December–March

The exact release date is announced by the government. If your status shows all three checks done, the instalment should arrive in your account on release day or within a few days. You'll get an SMS from your bank.

The scam warning

Fraudsters call farmers saying "your PM Kisan money is stuck, share the OTP to release it" or send links to fake "PM Kisan update" apps. No official ever needs your OTP or PIN. Do eKYC only on pmkisan.gov.in, the official app, or at a CSC.

Frequently asked questions

What is the PM Kisan helpline number?

Call 155261 or 011-24300606, or email pmkisan-ict@gov.in.

Can both husband and wife get PM Kisan?

No. PM Kisan is per family (husband, wife and minor children), so only one member can be a beneficiary.

Can a tenant farmer get PM Kisan?

No. The scheme is for landholding families whose names are in the land records. Some states have separate schemes for tenant farmers.

My instalment came to an old bank account — why?

DBT goes to the account your Aadhaar is mapped to in the NPCI mapper. If you seeded a new account, the newest mapping is used. Check the mapping and seed the account you want.

What does "RFT signed by state" mean in my status?

It means the state has approved your payment request (Request for Transfer). The next steps are FTO (Fund Transfer Order) and credit to your bank.
