How to Withdraw PF Online Without Employer Approval (2026)
Withdraw your EPF fully online in 5-20 days using UAN and Aadhaar OTP — no employer signature needed if your KYC is verified.
The most common question we get on Sahayak: "I left my company. My employer isn't responding. Can I still get my PF?" Yes. Here's exactly how.
The one non-negotiable requirement
Your KYC must be complete on UAN:
- Aadhaar → Verified (green tick)
- PAN → Verified (green tick)
- Bank account (in your name) → Verified
If any of these show "Pending" or "Rejected", first fix that (see our EPF KYC scheme page). Without complete KYC, no online withdrawal is possible.
Step-by-step withdrawal (no employer needed)
1. Login to UAN portal
Open unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in. Enter UAN + password + captcha.
2. Confirm KYC is verified
Go to Manage → KYC. All three (Aadhaar, PAN, bank) should show "Verified". If yes, proceed.
3. Go to online claim
Click Online Services → Claim (Form-31, 19 & 10C).
4. Verify bank account
The last 4 digits of your bank account will be shown. Type them again to confirm. Click Verify.
5. Choose withdrawal type
Three forms will be shown:
- Form 19 — Full and final settlement (only if you've been out of job for 2+ months)
- Form 10C — Pension withdrawal (only if you worked less than 10 years)
- Form 31 — Partial withdrawal (marriage, illness, house, education)
For full withdrawal, tick Form 19 + Form 10C.
6. Select the reason (for Form 31 partial)
Options include: Marriage, Illness, Housing, Higher Education, Natural Calamity, Unemployment. Choose the correct one — wrong reason = auto-rejection.
7. Enter the amount
For Form 31, enter the amount you need (max limit varies by reason — usually 50-90% of your balance).
8. Upload cheque copy
Take a photo of a cancelled cheque OR the first page of your bank passbook. Upload (max 500 KB, JPG/PDF).
9. Aadhaar OTP verification
An OTP comes to your Aadhaar-linked mobile. Enter it. Click Submit.
You're done. A digital signature is applied automatically. Employer approval is NOT needed as long as your KYC is verified.
How long does the money take?
- 5-10 working days for most claims
- Up to 20 working days in busy periods (March, September when bulk withdrawals happen)
- Money is credited directly to your Aadhaar-linked bank account
Track status: Online Services → Track Claim Status
Common rejections and how to avoid them
1. "Bank details rejected" — Bank account MUST be in your name, not joint. Fix at KYC section first.
2. "Aadhaar name mismatch" — Even one letter difference. Update Aadhaar first at UIDAI (or PF profile at EPF).
3. "Service < 6 months for Form 19" — You cannot withdraw the pension part (Form 10C) if service is less than 6 months; only PF is refundable.
4. "Two months not complete" — Unemployment claim needs 2 months gap. You can withdraw 75% after 1 month, remaining 25% after 2 months.
Tax on PF withdrawal
- Withdrawal before 5 years of continuous service → TDS 10% deducted (30% if PAN not linked)
- After 5 years → tax-free
- If total withdrawal is less than Rs. 50,000 → no TDS
The one warning we cannot stress enough
Never pay any 'PF agent'. The whole process is free. Anyone asking for Rs. 500-5000 to "get your PF faster" is a scam. Fixing your own KYC is a one-time 15-minute job that saves you thousands.
